Dark matter search
Our group takes part in the DarkSide experiment on the dark matter searches. It is the two-phase detector in the Gran Sasso laboratory, aimed to detect weakly interacting massive particles (WIMPs) of the dark matter by means of scattering off argon nuclei. DarkSide-50 detector with 50 kg of liquid argon as a target for WIMPs is currently taking data. Collaboration plans to construct the full-scale detector with the target mass of 1 ton. Another direction of the dark matter search is being developed in the frame of the new international project Eureca.
