Information technologies in physics of high energies
Data taking, processing and analysis of the ATLAS experiment data are challenging tasks. Their implementation requires advanced computing technologies. Unique problems have to be addressed at all stages of the data processing: simulation, trigger, event reconstruction and analysis. Without the use of distributed systems such as GRID and Cloud Computing it would be impossible to process the entire volume of the data, which for the first 3 years of data taking is already more than 100 petabytes.
MEPHI is involved in several projects of ATLAS computer infrastructure:
- MEPHI own GRID site support;
- development and support Condition DB, which is critical for whole ATLAS (pic. 1);
- new ATLAS production system development in collaboration with BNL and ANL (pic 2).
